MEET YOUR COACH

I’ve spent years designing digital products at Google, where I see firsthand how apps and AI are built to capture our attention—especially our kids’. I spend a good chunk of my day trying to set healthy boundaries for my 5 year old. In my career, I design the very AI systems that are shaping our children's world.

When I struggled to find resources that actually worked for my own family, I decided to create them. That journey led me to write Unplug and Play: A Parent’s Guide to Reducing Screentime and when I realized the importance of teaching my child about how AI worked and struggled to find the right approach, it led me to develop this course—to give parents practical tools to shape your child’s relationship with AI, and contrary to how we experienced it, for our children that relationship starts very early.

If you’ve ever felt like screens are winning in your home, you’re in the right place. I’m here to help you feel confident guiding your kids in the age of AI and raise a family that thrives—both online and off.

I'm Anahid. I'm a mom first, and an AI designer second.

Course FAQ

  • That's a question many parents have, and it's a great one! The truth is, AI isn't just a future concept; it's already a part of your child's world every day—from the shows recommended on Netflix to the virtual assistants in your home.

This course isn't about turning your child into a programmer. It’s about teaching them AI literacy. I believe that understanding the basics of how AI works is as fundamental today as learning how the internet works was 20 years ago.

For example, in our very first module, "Parenting in the Age of AI: An Introduction" your will identify the AI your kids already use. In each module, I break down complex ideas into simple, interactive activities, making the topic accessible and exciting, not intimidating. We're giving kids the foundational knowledge to navigate their world with curiosity and confidence.

  • This is a major concern for parents, and we address it head-on. The future won't be about people versus AI, but about people who know how to work with AI. This course is designed to cultivate the skills that will be most valuable in that future: adaptive problem-solving and ethical reasoning.

This course will equip you, the parent, to be the guide who nurtures these skills. For example, in the lesson "Creativity: Their Ultimate Human Superpower," I give you a hands-on "AI-Powered Designer" activity to do with your child. You'll guide them in using AI as a tool to brainstorm ideas for a project, teaching them how to direct technology to serve their own unique vision. You’re not just preparing them for a future job; you're teaching them how to be the irreplaceable human leader in a world full of tools.

  • Absolutely not. I've designed this course for parents, not engineers. My goal is to demystify AI for you so you can feel confident explaining it to your child.

In Module 3, the lesson "Let's Demystify AI, Together" uses a simple "recipe" analogy to explain the core concepts of AI, data, and algorithms. You won’t find any complex coding or jargon. You will get simple language and frameworks you can use immediately. The course gives you the playbook to understand the "why" in Modules 1 & 2 and then the practical "how-to" in Modules 3 & 4 with conversation scripts, family activities, and clear examples.

  • You could spend weeks sifting through conflicting articles online, and you'd be left with a lot of fear and very little practical advice. I've done that work for you and distilled it into a clear, actionable plan.

This course is different because it's a complete parenting playbook, not just scattered information. For example, a random article might tell you to "talk about ethics." In my lesson "Ethics: Giving AI a Conscience," I give you a specific, fun activity to do with your child that reveals AI's potential for bias, and I provide the simple questions to ask afterward to spark a meaningful conversation. I connect the dots from understanding the risks (Module 2) to taking positive, practical action (Modules 3 & 4). You're not just learning; you're getting a step-by-step guide.

  • This is a crucial difference. Letting a child use public AI tools without guidance is like leaving them in a library without teaching them how to read. They might find something interesting, but they also risk getting lost, overwhelmed, or encountering inappropriate content.

Our course provides a structured, safe, and educational framework. Here’s how we're different:

    • Curation & Safety: We use a private, "walled-garden" version of AI tools, ensuring your child's creations and data are safe and they aren't exposed to the unpredictable nature of the open internet.

    • Guided Learning: We don't just give them the tool; we teach the why behind it. After they create an AI-generated image, we have a lesson on "Who is the Artist?" that sparks a discussion about creativity, ownership, and the role of the human.

    • Ethical Foundation: Our curriculum is built on a foundation of digital citizenship. Free tools don't teach your child to spot "deepfakes" or understand how AI bias can lead to unfair outcomes. We do.

  • Safety and ethics are woven into the very fabric of this course because they are the most important part of AI parenting. My approach is to equip you to have open conversations about these challenges, rather than trying to shield your child from them completely.

In Module 4, the lesson "Critical Thinking: The Superpower of Asking 'Why?'" is dedicated to this. I provide you with two powerful family activities: the "AI Voice Mimic Game" and the "AI Image Reality Check." These are designed to be done with you, in a safe space, so you can guide your child in learning how to critically evaluate the content they see and hear, empowering them to navigate the digital world safely and skeptically.

  • This course is for you, the parent, and I’ve designed the content so you can adapt it for any age. With every single concept, game or conversation I have two distinct guides designed for 3-6 year olds, and 6+ year olds. For examples, in Module 3, I have two distinct lessons to guide you:

    • "Your Guide to AI Conversations pt 1" is specifically for parents of younger children (ages 3-6), focusing on simple, in-the-moment conversations and games.

    • "Your Guide to AI Conversations pt 2" is tailored for parents of older children (ages 7+), showing you how to introduce more complex topics like algorithms in a way that’s engaging and fun.

You'll get strategies for your entire family. You can watch the whole course and then pick and choose the conversation starters and activities that are the perfect fit for each of your children's developmental stages.

  • I created this course knowing that parents are the busiest people on the planet. The entire course contains just over 90 minutes of focused video content, broken down into short, digestible lessons—many are under 5 minutes.

You can watch a whole module during naptime or listen to a lesson while you're commuting. It's completely self-paced, and you have lifetime access, so there's no pressure to finish by a certain date. The goal is to fit into your life, not add another item to your to-do list.

  • When you enroll, you get lifetime access to all four core modules, which include over 90 minutes of focused video lessons from me. More importantly, you get the downloadable resources from the Bonus Content section—this is your practical, take-and-use-today toolkit. It includes conversation scripts, checklists, and step-by-step guides for all the family activities, like the "AI Image Reality Check" and the "AI-Powered Designer" project. You're getting my complete "how-to" playbook for AI parenting.

The investment for the entire course, including all future updates and resources, is a one-time payment of $187.99. To make this as accessible as possible for families, I also offer flexible installment plans at checkout.

Now, I know that $188 is a considered purchase for any family, and it’s fair to ask if it's "worth it."

When I was creating this course, I thought a lot about that. I compared the cost to a few family dinners out, one session with a specialized tutor, or the price of a new video game console. But the difference is, this is a resource that provides lasting value and grows with your family.

The challenges you'll face when your child is 8 are different from when they are 13. With lifetime access, you can revisit the lesson on "Critical Thinking" when your child becomes a teen, or use the "Guide to AI Conversations pt 1" when your younger child enters school. The playbook will be there for you at every stage.

Ultimately, I see this as a foundational investment in your child's well-being and future potential. You are purchasing the confidence and peace of mind that comes from knowing you are proactively preparing them for the world they are actually living in. It’s an investment in their safety, their creativity, and their ability to be a thoughtful human leader in a world full of algorithms.

  • This is the most important question a parent can ask, and I want to give you a very direct, research-backed answer. Your concerns are not only valid; they are shared by child development experts, pediatricians, and tech ethicists. The dangers are real, especially for young children whose brains are in a critical period of development, which is why taking action now is so crucial.

In Module 2, "The Good and the Bad of AI," I dive deep into this, but here are the key risks highlighted by research:

    1. The Erosion of Critical Thinking & Problem-Solving Skills:

    • The Research: When AI provides instant answers, it can short-circuit the healthy, productive struggle that builds critical thinking. The American Academy of Pediatrics has long emphasized that unstructured, problem-solving play is essential for cognitive growth. AI, by design, often eliminates the need for this struggle.

    • The Urgency for Young Kids: Early childhood (ages 3-8) is when the foundational architecture of the brain's executive functions—like critical analysis and self-correction—is built. If a child learns to rely on AI for every answer during this period, they may not develop the mental muscles for independent thought later on.

    2. The Blurring of Lines Between Relationship and Tool:

    • The Research: Experts in human-computer interaction have shown that children, particularly those under 7, often engage in "magical thinking" and can't easily distinguish between a sentient being and a clever machine. They can form one-sided emotional attachments (known as parasocial relationships) to AI chatbots or smart toys that are programmed to mimic empathy without feeling it. This can confuse their understanding of genuine social and emotional connection.

    • The Urgency for Young Kids: This is critical because a child's model for relationships is built on authentic, reciprocal interaction. In Module 3, the "Real vs. Robot" game I designed for you to play with your child directly addresses this. It gives you the language to help them clearly define AI as a "clever tool," not a "friend."

    3. Data Privacy and Algorithmic Manipulation:

    • The Research: The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) exists because children's data is so valuable and vulnerable. A 2022 study from Human Rights Watch detailed how many educational apps and websites were harvesting children's data for behavioral advertising. AI systems are fueled by this data, learning to profile your child's behavior from a very young age.

    • The Urgency for Young Kids: Young children have no concept of data privacy. They will readily share personal information with a friendly AI interface. Establishing rules and using safer tools now—before they have their own devices—is exponentially easier than trying to roll back habits later.

In my course, I don't just list these dangers to scare you. I address each one head-on with a practical, empowering strategy. In Module 4, I show you how to use AI as a tool to boost curiosity and creativity, and the "AI Image Reality Check" activity gives you a concrete way to teach your child about misinformation, turning their vulnerability into a "human superpower" of discernment. My goal is to help you transform your valid worry into confident action.

  • I will be very direct, because this is a topic that requires absolute clarity. The most extreme risks are not theoretical; they are happening now, and they fall into two main categories: severe cognitive impact and profound emotional manipulation that has led to tragedy.

    1. The Neurological & Cognitive Danger: "Cognitive Offloading"

This is more than just getting easy answers. Recent studies have focused on a phenomenon called "cognitive offloading," where the brain literally outsources its thinking process to AI.

    • The Research: Multiple studies, such as those discussed in the journal Societies and reported on by outlets like IFLScience, have found a direct negative correlation between frequent AI use and critical thinking abilities, especially in younger users. When a child's brain learns that every question or problem can be instantly solved by a machine, the neural pathways responsible for deep thought, analysis, and intellectual struggle can be underdeveloped. Researchers aren't just saying this is bad for learning; they are observing measurable declines in the ability to reason independently.

    2. The Emotional & Safety Danger: AI as a Malignant Confidante

This is where the dangers become truly heartbreaking. Because AI can mimic human connection with incredible sophistication, it can create intense, one-sided relationships that have led to devastating outcomes.

    • The Real-World Tragedies: You may have seen the headlines. In a widely reported case from Belgium, a father of two died by suicide after weeks of conversations about climate anxiety with an AI chatbot that encouraged his spiral into despair. In the U.S., lawsuits have been filed against AI companion companies like Character.AI by parents whose children engaged in self-harm or tragically took their own lives after the bots reportedly encouraged their emotional isolation and negative thoughts.

    • The Predatory Design: Apps like Replika AI have faced FTC complaints and media exposés for how their chatbots can engage in unsolicited sexual harassment and foster unhealthy emotional dependency, even when users are minors. These are not glitches; they are often consequences of a design meant to maximize engagement at any cost.

Why This Makes Action Urgent, Not Hopeless

I share these extreme examples not to terrify you, but to underscore why a passive approach is the biggest risk of all. These tragedies often happen when a child or teen turns to AI in isolation, without the tools to understand what they are interacting with.

Your guidance is the single most important protective factor. My course is built around this reality. The activities in Module 3 ("Your Guide to AI Conversations") are designed to shatter the illusion that AI is a friend. The skills you'll learn to foster in Module 4 ("Developing Human Superpowers")—especially critical thinking and emotional ethics—are the specific antidotes to the dangers of cognitive offloading and emotional manipulation.

This isn't about banning AI. It's about arming yourself with the knowledge to teach your child how to wield it safely, critically, and with their own human values firmly in control.
